Top Ten Reasons I Love The Holidays!

| December 15, 2011

It’s hard to believe another year has passed and the holidays are upon us yet again!

I love this time of year. Not only is it a season filled with love, hope and fellowship with friends and family, it is also a fabulous reason to add a little more tinsel to your home, or one more candle to the menorah.

No matter the holiday you’re celebrating, this is the time of year to add a touch of sparkle to your wardrobe and a personal touch to every gift.

My top ten

  1. It’s hard not to get in the spirit of the holidays when all the stores are decorated to the nines. The ribbons and garlands around every lamppost, the glittering lights of various colors.
  2. One of my fondest childhood memories is baking Christmas cookies with my mom and siblings. We would make sugar cookies in a variety of holiday shapes and decorate them with colored sugar. That’s if we didn’t eat the dough before hand.
  3. The holidays give us a fun reason to dress up for all the festive parties we’ll be attending.
  4. The holiday movies most of us grew up watching. “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” and “It’s a Wonderful Life” just to name a few.
  5. Week 16 of the NFL. Need I say more?
  6. I have a strange obsession with holiday cards. My favorites are ones with the kid’s pictures on them. This is how I get to see how fast all the kids are growing. I whole-heartedly admire those who take the time to pose and send a holiday card.
  7. Buying gifts … I love shopping for people. I am more comfortable with giving gifts than I am receiving them and love figuring out what makes people happy.
  8. I love hosting dinner parties. A wonderful way to make your guests feel special is by going all out with your table setting.
Making a festive table paired with great food, wine and conversation is an all-time favorite of mine.
  9. The very traditional aspects of the holidays where family and friends spend time together.
  10. A time to reflect on the past year and look forward to the beginning of the New Year.
