Perhaps the draw was to catch one of America’s most influential entertainers perform the eagerly-awaited halftime show.
In pregame hype, Madonna promised viewers there would be no “wardrobe malfunction,” but rather a performance billed as one of the top Super Bowl shows of all time.
Along with being the queen of pop comes controversy and insurmountable pressure to stay on top.
Known for always pushing the envelope with her racy videos or her views of the Christian church, she’s always stirring controversy somehow.
Whether you’re a Madonna fan or not, one thing is undeniable: she has withstood the test of time by constantly reinventing herself over a career spanning nearly 30 years.
Now, about the actual game.
If you’re a New England Patriots fan you’ve waited four years for this rematch.
I’m referring, of course, to the 2007 season where the Patriots had a flawless season until the New York Giants wrecked it during Super Bowl 2008.
If you listened to any of the pre-game commentary, Super Bowl 2012 would be the game Tom Brady was going to even the score.
However, history does sometimes repeat itself and Super Bowl XLVI was reminiscent of the previous battle for the championship title.
And for those of us battling it out at home, we all know what comes with a Super Bowl party.
Great food, good friends and B-I-G flat screen TVs to showcase America’s football game.
Super Bowl Sunday is infamous for endless buffets of dips, chicken wings and nachos and is certainly not the day to diet.
Everyone, it seems, is a football fan come Super Bowl Sunday.
Even folks who don’t know a first down from a touchdown somehow end up engaged in the game, along with friends critiquing the commercials and halftime entertainment.
So, regardless of your motivation for watching the Super Bowl, it’s the day we all get a hall pass for being glued to the TV for hours on end.
