Highland Cleaners has been in business for more than 65 years. What are some of the keys to your success?
Our pledge since we first opened our doors in 1944 has been to provide the highest quality dry cleaning along with exceptional personal service. We deliver on that pledge by hiring the best people, and by resisting any technological advances in dry cleaning that sacrifice quality for lower costs.
Tell us about the new Highland Green building that just opened?
The Highlands neighborhood is our home, and we wanted to build a very special building for our newest branch location. Since we began in 1944, Highland has only used an organic dry cleaning solvent, essentially being green since day one, so we decided that our next branch should reflect our commitment to green practices.
The Highland Green building is a soon-to-be LEED certified structure packed with innovative features at every turn. To name a few, it has a rooftop solar farm, a separate green (vegetative) roof, a geothermal heating and air conditioning system, rainwater retention systems and electric car-charging stations. There is also a separate building, the Discovery Center, that will feature a video educational presentation open to the public that will help visitors better understand the different aspects of sustainable architecture.
We are pleased that our newest branch has garnered so much interest and excitement in one of Louisville’s most vibrant neighborhoods. Check it out on the web at www.TheHighlandGreen.com.

What are some of the latest trends in fashion accessories?
Fashion accessories are very important! Every woman needs a good base look to display additional pieces to the fullest. There are two sides to fashion accessory trends this season. The big and beautiful cocktail necklaces, bracelets and rings that hit the scene last spring are definitely here to stay. A colorful statement piece can work with the simplest outfit or an evening look, making it very versatile. On the other end, tiny dainty layering jewels are everywhere: thin necklaces, skinny bangles in all finishes. Rose gold is our personal favorite.
How would you define Louisville fashion?
We think Louisville fashion is definitely moving forward. With the multiple new boutiques in town, women are faced with many more fashion options, which is great! The more options, the more diversity in style we will see from the ladies. We are constantly trying to bring fashion-forward, new designers into Dressing Room to provide the latest styles to our clientele. Hopefully they think we are doing our job well.

What are some easy ways to update your wardrobe?
Accessories are the easiest ways to update your wardrobe. Add some funky necklaces, a sexy pair of earrings or a fabulous bracelet, and you have a new look. A pair of killer heels or boots can also take an outfit to another level.
What styles can we expect to see in this year’s Best Dressed fashion show?
This year, get yourself glam! You will see a wide variety of trends at this year’s Best Dressed fashion show: fur, sequins, glitter, lady-like dresses and blouses, structured suiting, high-waist, wide-leg pants. All kinds of animal prints are showing up in tops, jackets, shoes and accessories. The fashions are very bold, beautiful and fun this fall – women are really going to love the new trends.
