Let the voting begin

| August 4, 2011

VotingWe often don’t recognize the full scope of someone’s talent until they are gone. The death of the great designer Alexander McQueen shook the fashion world after he committed suicide last year.

We might have gotten a glimpse of his work, but did we fully understand the magnitude of his work and talent? The Voice-Tribune’s Best Dressed of Louisville Presented by Churchill Downs has drawn its inspiration came from one of the most celebrated designers in the world.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has been witnessing massive lines for McQueen’s “Savage Beauty” exhibit. Ever since I heard about the show, I told myself I needed to do whatever I could to see the exhibit. So this past weekend, I joined a crowd making its way through the dark atmosphere with eerie music and beautiful clothing throughout.

Well, it’s that time of year again: Kids are heading back to school soon, the boutiques are having their summer sales and now it’s down to the wire to put the final touches on Best Dressed. All the nominees have been revealed and now the voting begins. You know the drill, click HERE to vote for the woman, man and couple you would like to see strut down the runway.

Best Dressed is unique because it promotes our local boutiques and business and recognizes some of Louisville’s most stylish people all in the name of giving back to charity. For the second year, the benefiting charity is Dress for Success Louisville.

If you haven’t already purchased tickets, I encourage you to do so now.  VIP lounges for 10 are $2,500, tables for six are $1,200, tables for four are $800 and runway seating is $130.
