Great summer nights

Horses prepare for the next race.

Churchill Downs has hosted the most exciting two minutes in sports for the past 137 years, but now the historic racetrack can add another feather to its cap.

Night racing has transformed the racetrack into one of the hottest entertainment spots Louisville has to offer. The Downs After Dark night racing series debuted as an experiment, but it quickly turned into an overnight success with different stations set throughout the track, comfy lounge areas and world-renowned DJs who keep the young and young at heart dancing the night away.

Don’t be left out of this ultimate experience. There are only two Downs After Dark dates remaining, when you can browse with such a fun hip crowd.

While racing and the rich history of Churchill Downs will always remain the major reason for the continued love of the Kentucky Derby, it is also just a great sporting event – one I feel everyone should add to his or her bucket list!

Once the first month of summer is history, the rest of the summer seems to break all speed records in racing toward the beginning of another school year. I’m certainly not wishing the summer to disappear at this alarming rate. But for us at The Voice-Tribune, it is the telltale sign that Best Dressed of Louisville Presented by Churchill Downs is approaching.

While the success of any event depends in large part on what goes on behind the scenes in the months and weeks leading up to it, I’m also a realist and understand that without the unwavering support of our sponsors we could not put on such a high-caliber event and achieve our mission.

There is just a little over a month until all the nominees are revealed and online voting begins. It is important for the community to get involved in voting for this year’s worthy candidates beginning Aug. 5.

Whether you choose to sit in a lounge with VIP service, a table that will accommodate four to six, or theater seating that can be purchased in any increment, we have created a number of different packages with our guests in mind.

Willy Wonka would envy. She’s a fervent high school soccer fan (go
Collegiate!) and has the raspy voice to prove it after game days.
