Margaret and John Woods are back from the wilds of Florida and enjoying civilization while catching up with friends.
Last weekend they entertained with a dinner that was divine. A cocktail or two got the crowd off to a good start. The two hosts collaborated on dinner. John prepared the most succulent barbequed ribs – the meat just fell off the bones. Margaret cooked two pies. One was a savory tomato and cheese concoction and for dessert was her famous lemon curd meringue pie.
Aside from the good company, all of whom who have been friends for years, everyone was fascinated to see Margaret’s doll house. John has been the general contractor and Margaret the decorator. She has added such decorator touches as a mural in the front hall and a beautiful brass chandelier. John has excelled at the moldings and especially the inlaid parquet center hall.
Even son Lowry has gotten into it when he is home on leave from the National Guard, where he is a demolition expert! It’s nice to have someone in the family who can disarm bombs. Daughter Angie, who is not a bomb expert, will love sharing the house with her daughters and granddaughters someday.

The Southeast Tourism Society has selected the Shelbyville Horse Show as part of their 2012 Summer Top 20 Festivals and Events.
The Shelbyville Horse Show jubilee is gearing up with concerts, a car-cruise, breakfast in the barn of one of the most prestigious farms and more.

Christmas In July
The Salvation Army is celebrating Christmas in July and they would like you to be a part of “Doing the Most Good.” The event is part of a new effort to raise awareness and support the mission and work in the community year-round. The Angel Tree and Kettle programs are well-loved and well-supported but the Army doors are open to the hungry and hurting in a variety of ways 365 days a year.
The Community Kitchen is a resource for the entire community. With the capacity to serve more than 400 meals a day, the kitchen staff works to provide healthy breakfasts and dinners to anyone who comes to its doors hungry. Families in need can also receive boxes of non-perishable food from the Center of Hope.
The Salvation Army in Louisville enjoys an incredible partnership with Dare to Care Food Bank and is one of the agency’s largest distributors.
There is a first-ever Salvation Army Tea on July 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is designed to celebrate the role women play in the The Salvation Army’s leadership and mission. It will be held in the historic Male High School auditorium and will feature music, a silent auction and special speakers along with the tea and treats.

Chef Anthony Lamas has announced that Seviche will now feature a variety of cooking classes offered to small groups by request. Subject matter may include whole hog butchery (!), salsas, seviches and whole fish cookery. Classes start at $95 per person and include dinner.
