It doesn’t matter if it is glamorous new glasses or glamorous drag queens. Last week, new glamour was definitely here in River City!
The Baker family, led by patriarch Allan and his son, Steven, opened a lovely new OPTIK by Korrect in Prospect. They welcomed guests at the grand opening.
OPTIK is filled with exotic, beautiful, distinctive, hand-crafted eyeware that I am told you will find nowhere else in Kentucky. These distinctive frames are limited, wearable art. Some of the frames are made of titanium. They are lightweight. Some of the well-known designers include Vera Wang and her Runway Collection, Alain Mikli, Lafont and Tom Davies to name just a few.
I am wearing tortoise and lime green laser cut Jean Lafont glasses. They are chic and eye-catching (no pun intended) and have Kodak high-definition lenses. They really are the icing on the cake if you are going to wear glasses! You can even make an appointment for a private fitting.

Entertainer of the year
Selection of “The Entertainer of the Year” is scheduled for July 29-31. This is an annual fundraising event for SLS Pride Foundation Inc. and is a wonderfully fun and funny show.
If you want to be entertained and amazed, this is the event for you. The costumes, wigs, heels, rhinestones and makeup, not to mention the talent, is just amazing. Female impersonators from across the country congregate here to compete for the title of Entertainer of the Year, cash and prizes of nearly $15,000.
Contestants have qualified in EOY state and regional pageants held during the year and will continue their quest for the title and prizes in the semifinals at The Connection this Friday and Saturday evening. The top 10 contestants will compete in the final competition at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1, at Horseshoe Casino Southern Indiana.
It is fun, no, it is fabulous and a great evening of entertainment.
General admission tickets for preliminary nights at The Connection are $10 and may be purchased at the door. Final night reserved seating tickets ($40 and $50) may be purchased by calling 502.583.1166 or at www.horseshoe-indiana.com.
The event is sponsored by The Connection Entertainment Complex, Anheuser Busch-Bud Light, Brown-Forman and Horseshoe Southern Indiana.
