Irving Schuster celebrated his 90th birthday last weekend at a dinner party at Vincenzo’s. The party was hosted by his son, Lon, and his wife Cathy.
There were three generations of Schusters there. Irv and wife Elsie; son Lon and Cathy; and their two sons, Cory, an attorney in Washington, and Dr. Bryce Schuster and his wife Julie, who is also a doctor.
Elsie’s sister, Judy Rosenglauber of Pepper Pike, Ohio came in for the party.
Margie and Allan Baker, Elaine and Bert Klein, Roslind Weiss, Julian Goldberg, Nancy Silverman, Bernard Hymen, Sonya and Ron Levin, Gladys and Sonny Bass and lots of other friends attended.
It was a wonderful evening. Everyone loves Irving, he is the sweetest and kindest of men. Elsie said she was the luckiest girl in the world having Irving for her husband.

Last week the Heuser Hearing Institute presented the Sam Swope Auto Group Sound Beginnings Breakfast to benefit the Institute’s Hearing & Language Academy, and Sam Swope was the Honorary Chair of the event. More than 170 people turned up at 8 a.m. to support this wonderful organization.
The next day Sam hosted a gala reopening of his Cadillac dealership, which has been redecorated from top to bottom, and hundreds more showed up for this event as well.

Don’t forget the Hosparus Gala on Nov. 10 to benefit the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center.
The Care Center offers patients short-term 24-hour care to address pain control and other symptoms associated with terminal illnesses. During the last 17 years they have had the privilege of caring for thousands at the center located on the sixth floor at the Norton Healthcare Pavilion. To offer this specialized care for more patients and families they are expanding and renovating the space. By hosting this evening, they are asking for your help to complete their fundraising efforts and finish the construction at the center.
National Bourbon Heritage Month
The Brown Hotel is celebrating Bourbon in a big way this month.
The English Grill will feature a rabbit salad ($13) with Bulleit bourbon soaked cherries, triviso and sherry mustard vinaigrette. Also new to the menu are short ribs ($32) braised with Basil Hayden’s bourbon and cumin, served with celeriac puree and roasted apple and walnut gremolata. For dessert, Kentucky spice cake ($12) with Buffalo Trace bourbon whipped cream.
In the hotel’s Lobby Bar, a bison burger ($16) with beer cheese, house-made pickles and a Four Roses bourbon barbecue sauce will be available with a chocolate walnut pie made with Maker’s 46 that is topped with vanilla bean ice cream.
Signature cocktails include the Kentucky Cider ($11) with Woodford Reserve and sparkling apple cider and the Biscontini ($12) with Buffalo Trace cream liquor, bourbon and nutmeg. The Brown Hotel’s Lobby Bar is a proud member of the Urban Bourbon Trail.
