Louisville Bats

| April 6, 2011

With the weather beginning to look promising there is one thing on my mind (other than bathing suit season rearing it’s string-bikini head) Bats games – and ballpark hotdogs!

Louisville Slugger Field will open up its gates Thursday, April 7, for another season of baseball, Budweiser Happy Hours and family fun for all ages.

And as much as this has the beginnings of a theme park brochure, there is just something about baseball that brings out the kid in us all and screams American Dream.

Could it be the sunny weather? The crowds that gather buzzing with anticipation? Or perhaps the hotdogs and beer that have you and your significant other finally agreeing on a sporting event to attend.

Either way, Bats season is here, and I couldn’t be more ready.

The Louisville Bats are in its 12th season as Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds and are looking for a fourth consecutive division title beginning with this week’s opponent, the Toledo Mud Hens.

Opening night will also mark the first of 10 Budweiser Happy Hours for the 2011 season. Not familiar with the best pre-game of the summer? Don’t worry, I’ll get you caught up to speed.

With the Louisville Bats and Budweiser teaming up, fans and post-work blues victims can enjoy $1 Budweiser and Bud Light beers before each Thursday night home game from 5:30 to 7 p.m. With live music on the Overlook Deck, this is the best way to grab an after-work bite, beat the crowds and de-stress before cheering on your favorite player – and that’s just Thursday nights.

Slugger Field is a one-stop shop for family fun with events being held almost every night of the week. Tickets to games are as low as $7.

Can’t wait until the Fourth of July to see some fireworks? They have your entertainment bases covered. Every Friday night after home games the Bats produce a fireworks show that only helps the city of Louisville get more excited for Thunder Over Louisville.

Need  a day off from cartoons and inflatable pools? Slugger Field has upped its game from peanuts and Crackerjacks by offering the kids an inflatable FunZone at every Sunday home game.

And that’s just covering Thursday through Sunday. Slugger Field will keep you entertained all summer long with non-stop events to get you out of the dugout and into the action.

Take me out to the ballpark will be an every night request.

Since 1982 the Bats have been bringing the love of the game to Louisville. With updated facilities and on-site eateries, this is a sure-win crowd favorite.

Interesting arcana

The first 5,000 fans through the gates on Thursday will receive a 2011 team magnetic schedule.
