The Voice-Tribune and Chambord are bringing the real deal for Brunch with Betsey benefiting Gilda’s Club on Thursday, May 5, at the Louisville Marriott Downtown.
The designer will make her hippy trippy debut on the bluegrass, and we might never be the same – at least one can hope.
In an era of anything-goes fashion, we have a very specific genre to which we owe appreciation – the anything-goes ’60s. And who better to represent this design principle but the living, breathing rolling stone herself – Betsey Johnson.
From her days in SoHo, to her afternoons well spent at Warhol’s loft, one thing we can bet she remembers from the ’60s is the ever-present fashion, which she has managed to morph into today’s threads and make fashionably relevant to all ages.
If anyone is going to get me to add cheetah and safety pins to my wardrobe, it better be someone who has partied with The Velvet Underground. And it just so happens that same matriarch of funky fresh plans on spending the afternoon with us.
With “race day style tips,” delicious food and a not-so-bad guest of honor, we will recognize six extraordinary honorees while having a little fun and shedding light on breast cancer.
So throw on your rose-colored glasses and meet us there!
Chambord will be mixing up their signature Kentucky Oaks and Derby cocktail – the Fleur De Lis, as the fine people of Louisville come out to benefit a good cause and pay homage to a fashion icon. We can only hope to show this wild horse a little Southern hospitality.
