Treatments And Trends To Look Your Best For BD2012

| June 28, 2012

As summer begins to round second base, it’s also an indication that The Voice-Tribune’s Best Dressed, presented by Churchill Downs, is fast approaching. I caught up with a few of our important and loyal sponsors that make easier for us elevate our event to new heights.

Carrie Smith from Calospa:

Lori Kommor: What non-invasive procedures do you feel give the most bang for your buck?
Carrie Smith: At Calospa we have a variety of non-surgical procedures that offer longevity. Fillers like Juvederm, Perlane and Restylane show immediate results and last 9 months to a year. Botox/Dysport always works and is the most effective “wrinkle eraser.” Our Micropeel is my favorite “most bang for your buck” procedure because it is a combination of Dermaplaning, a customized peel and cryotherpy all rolled into one treatment for a great price.

LK: What would you tell someone who is looking for the most cost effective way to stay looking younger?
CS:  The most cost effective way to stay looking younger is to seek advice from a professional. At Calospa our skin experts only recommend products you need and services that will give you results. They guide you in the right direction without breaking the bank.

LK: What are some of your favorite skin care products and why?
CS: Right now I am obsessed with ZO SkinHealth and ZO Medical. They are the newest lines of products from Dr. Zein Obagi that are sold exclusively at Calospa. I love the Cebatrol oil control pads because they have 2% Salicylic acid, which is great because I am very acne prone. I also use the Oclipse Sunscreen + Primer with SPF 30 every day before I put on my makeup, because sunscreen is a must for all of us. Lastly, Ossential Radical Night Repair Plus has been doing wonders for my cellular turnover! It features the highest concentration of retinol and helps repair and rebuild collagen. Love It!

Chrissie Richardson from Sunny Daize:

Lori Kommor: What are some easy and cost effective ways to update your wardrobe?
Chrissie Richardson: Think accessories!

  • Attention-stealing cluster earrings; vintage-inspired crystal and rhinestone necklaces; bracelets and earrings.
  • Collars are going to be big for fall. Use them as an accent to update any outfit.
  • Add an equestrian-themed harness belt with flat riding boots.
  • Fashion forward handbags.
  • Lastly, always use the rule of three. Can you wear each item three different ways? If not, don’t buy it! Three is the magic number.

LK: What are some of the trends we can expect to see at BD2012?
CR: Look for oxblood red, merlot, sangria and burgundy; this color is the new black.

  • Fabrics like glossy leathers, patents, brocades and metallics.
  • Feather and fur trim.
  • Head to toe patterns and prints.

LK: Which designer do you most admire?
CR: In 1972, Diane Von Furstenberg first made waves with a simple yet radical directive; “ Feel like a woman, wear a dress.” Her iconic wrap dress appeals to all body types and figures and has timeless style. We love her fabrics and prints and how her pieces make you feel.

Willy Wonka would envy. She’s a fervent high school soccer fan (go
