Guy Fieri, NBC’s “Minute to Win It” star and celebrity chef, will return to join forces with the Louisville Marriott Downtown to present the third annual Marriott Oaks Bourbon Brunch on Friday, May 6, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. to benefit Kosair Children’s Hospital.
The multi-course, bourbon-infused brunch draws a crowd of close to 700 guests who want to enjoy a fabulous kick-start to their Derby weekend.
“The Marriott Oaks Bourbon Brunch is becoming as much of a Derby tradition as mint juleps and extravagant hats,” said Michael Howerton, vice president and general manager of the Louisville Marriott Downtown.
Howerton is thrilled to partner with Fieri and Kosair Children’s Hospital.
“Marriott is excited to be able to host a benefit for a great organization such as KCH, and the fact that we can partner with Fieri, who shares our passion for great food and entertaining, is the perfect way for us to do what we do best and give back to the community at the same time.”
Fieri, known for his culinary and comedic entertainment during his television cooking shows, including “Guy’s Big Bite,” “Ultimate Recipe Showdown” and “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” brings the same spontaneity and charisma to the brunch event.
“Guy will be front and center during the entire event,” said Hailee Lampert, event spokesperson.
After VIP photos with guests (and mimosas, of course), guests will take their seats and Fieri will take the stage for his electrifying cooking demonstration, where he usually auctions off items as he cooks. From items such as trips to France and Napa Valley to the cooking utensils he is using, Fieri will auction off whatever he can get his hands on.
“Last year, he has even auctioned off the stovetop at the end of the demo, just pulled it out of the kitchen set, sparks flying and signed it with his big sharpie marker,” Howerton said.
The fun will continue as several lucky guests will be chosen to compete in a live “Minute to Win It” contest.
Tickets are $150 per person, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Kosair Children’s Hospital. The meet and greet will begin at 8 a.m. with brunch starting at 9 a.m. Getting to the track or various other Oaks Day obligations on time won’t be a problem, with taxis in abundance and a shuttle service, which stops less than a block from the Marriott’s Jefferson Street entrance.
Guests are welcome to stick around because Fieri will not be whisked away to the track but will continue to autograph copies of his book, proceeds of which will also be donated to Kosair Children’s Hospital.
