Terry Meiners may be known for his often silly antics, but he’s super serious when it comes to his new wife, Mary George Meiners.

The couple dated for nearly six years before getting married on Jan. 1 in a super small, super short ceremony that took “6 or 7 minutes. It was hilarious,” Mary laughed. “We’d asked everyone to leave while we were getting married and it was so fast, I called the caterers to tell them to come back in, and they said they hadn’t even gotten across the road.”

The courtship evolved into marriage with its fair share of growing pains, Terry admitted candidly, “but it helped to take the proper amount of time to get in concert with each other. We feel stronger for having waited.”

Flanked by his sons, Max and Simon, Terry wed Mary while her young children, Gracie and Aidan Koch and her parents watched Judge Stephen George – her uncle – perform the ceremony. “He asked if I’d already felt married and this was a formality. I did.” Mary said. “It felt right from the beginning. It felt right pretty early on. I don’t know that we knew what it would look like, but I don’t think there was any question that we’re spend the rest of our lives together.”

Terry concurred. “Mary’s a lovely, positive person who can look at any situation in a bright prism. She has an uncanny knack for squeezing the delightful parts out of any situation. I admire her benevolent and radiant view of life. She has a real gift for squeezing out every bit of joy and savoring it in each and every experience,” he said.

“Mary, for me, is the completion of my tangible life. Mary and her children add a new dimension to my life. I have two outstanding sons and I’m crazy in love with Mary’s kids, Aidan and Gracie. She’s a great partner. She’s a great adviser. She does not hold back and she hasn’t been wrong yet.”

The two spend much of their time together laughing, which isn’t a surprise for anyone who knows Terry, but what is a bit unexpected is who’s the real comedian of the pair.

“If one of us is awake worrying at night, it’s me,” said Terry. “I’m able to bring levity to people (on the radio and TV), but I’m the one that chews on the more serious side of life. I am more sensitive and I shed a few tears every day of my life. Mary is a great counterbalance.”

Mary concurred. “I am the lighter, the sillier of the two of us. He’s a very serious person. He’s hilarious – we laugh every day – but there are a lot of layers to that onion.”
