If you’re anything like me, or just enjoy good television, you’re probably a fan of the CBS comedy “The Big Bang Theory.” The show is centered around two nerdy scientists, Leonard and Sheldon (played by Emmy nominated Johnny Galecki and Emmy winner Jim Parsons), their two equally nerdy friends, Howard and Raj (Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar), and their very attractive roommate, Penny (Kaley Cuoco). In the scene above, Penny is tending to a sick Sheldon. He requests the song “Soft Kitty.” The song is actually the children’s song “Warm Kitty,” written by Australian Edith Newlin. As most things do in nerd culture, the song took off, spawning hundreds of YouTube videos and eventually leading to Big Bang Theory merchandise.
Needless to say, when our past Editor Jacob Glassner told me that we were offered a t-shirt/plush combo to review I was thrilled! I’m a huge Big Bang Theory fan and found the song quite amusing. So three months later when Voice-Tribune Managing Editor Angie Fenton finally stopped (unknowingly) hiding the products and put them in plain sight under her collected junk pile I finally got them in my hands.
The plush cat is a soft polyester fiber with a music box hidden in it’s stomach that plays the song when the right paw is pressed. It’s about 10″ long and rests about 5″ tall. It has on a black faux leather collar that has a rubber “Big Bang Theory” logo medallion on the front.
The shirt is 100% cotton and has an adorable picture of Soft Kitty laying on it’s back with the lyrics surrounding it’s body.

I read, I write, I watch stuff and most importantly I design and photograph for the Voice-Tribune full time. When I’m not doing those things then I’m probably eating something delicious or playing with my two cats. I live in Germantown and try to enjoy every day to the fullest.
