Hello! I’m Sara Nelle Murphy (you can call me Sara Nelle). I’m a twenty-year-old student and an intern/writer/blogger at The Voice-Tribune in Louisville, Kentucky. I like a lot of things, and in many ways I guess you could say I’m a typical young adult. I’m trying new things, meeting interesting people, exploring new places, basically trying my best to live life to the fullest.
I want to get one thing straight before I get too far into talking about myself. I’m not a prissy, puffy, pink Disney princess kind of girl (but if I was, I would definitely be Belle). Don’t get me wrong, I love girly things like shoes, kittens, tea and scones, etc. But I also love being active, biking, hiking, strolling around, and finding cool new places around Louisville to explore.
Right now my main obsession is music. I don’t care if it’s “cool” or not, if I like it then I like it. But I do tend to listen to indie music. And I’m really not a music snob, I promise. I’m constantly posting youtube videos online and introducing my friends to new groups or styles of music, because I believe music is a way to communicate emotions and feelings that we couldn’t achieve with just words.
I’m also a fan of literature. In fact, I aspire to be an author one day. My favorite book is “Wuthering Heights” by Emily Brontë, and I’m currently reading “Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas” by Louisville’s own Hunter S. Thompson. I have no idea how one goes about writing a whole book, but I have faith that one day the inspiration will come.
And if there’s one thing that I’m looking for in life, it’s definitely this inspiration, this desire to be stimulated and shaken out of the mundane cycle of the day, to be “awoken” and to see the world with new eyes. I believe inspiration can come from anything. It could come from the lyrics of a song, or interacting with a child. Perhaps a film you saw struck a chord with you, or a flower brought a smile to your face. I believe there is magic in these small exchanges, however insignificant they may seem to the outside world.
I want this blog to be an exploration of inspiration, with some amusing anecdotes thrown in every now and then. And who knows, maybe you’ll be inspired. At the very least, I hope you smile.
