I’m an only child. I grew up in Louisville’s Okolona neighborhood. My mom is originally from Germany and still has the cutest accent. My dad was in the Army stationed near Bamberg when they met, fell in love and she moved here to Louisville to get married. I went to Guardian Angels grade school, Assumption High School and Indiana University for undergrad. I majored in political science and journalism and have a master’s in international relations from Georgetown University in D.C.
I love Diane Sawyer’s on-air look. She is always “effortlessly elegant.” I also am a big fan of Charlize Theron. She can wear a pair of jeans and look chic!
Favorite Places to Shop
I love shopping in New York and D.C. when I travel. Here in town, I am a big fan of Clodhoppers, Rodes and Rodeo Drive.
First and foremost I am passionate about being a mother. My son Jack is 4-and-a-half. It’s just the cutest age, and of course he’s a complete momma’s boy.
I am also pouring a lot of energy into my new website www.claudiacoffeyheartproject.org. I did a story about my son’s heart condition on WHAS and was overwhelmed by the response. I’m working hard to raise awareness for undiagnosed heart conditions in children. It’s very fulfilling to find a way to bring awareness to a cause that’s so close to my heart and to have a large audience to promote that to.
I am blessed with a great career, and I feel very compelled to use my voice to talk about important issues. I also really love my job at WHAS-TV. Since I was 15, this was all I ever wanted to do. These days I think you are really lucky if you can have a job you love, and I do.
